9月16日，应蔡演军博士邀请，美国加州州立大学地球科学系Ashish Sinha博士与巴西圣保罗大学地球科学研究所研究员Francisco Cruz博士访问中科院地球环境研究所，并作学术报告。

Ashish Sinha博士作了题为The Spatial Signature of Centennial-Scale Variations in the Indian Summer Monsoon during the Last Millennium的报告，阐述了过去一千年印度季风十年、百年尺度的变化特征，探讨了印度东北部和中部季风降水反相位变化的动力学机制。

Francisco Cruz博士以South American Monsoon Regime in the Last Two Glacial Cycles为题，详细论述了过去两个冰期循环南美季风变化及其驱动机制。

Ashish Sinha博士和Francisco Cruz博士都是洞穴石笋研究领域的优秀专家，在各自研究领域均取得了重要的研究成果，分别在Nature、Nature Geoscience、Geology、Earth and Planetary Science Letters、Quaternary Science Reviews等高影响因子刊物发表过研究论文。
